The moon rips the tide from beneath frail paws;
letting them burn in the morning glare
Chaotic howls break the dawn, echo and burn
in this firey morning air

This Earth so cruel
on a heart so weak?
A demonic voice begins to speak
"Why won't you ask why you're here?"

You turn to see the glowing eyes
of your worst nightmare
Shadowy feet and bodies sauntering
from here to there
Surrounding you, immune to the burn
Their red fangs glistening, a snarling
smile as you wish you weren't there

A dim gold shines on the horizon
Sending a tranquil breath to your racing heart
the eyes widen, a soul takes off
legs spring desperately toward it
falling into fire, burning, aching
but you keep on running faster
falling, but getting back up
Just for the horizon,
just for that golden light
that may not even be there

Inching closer your body heals
and you're startled by the call of a bird
the sun warms your fur now and you relax
you're free..
all because you kept on running
In pursuit of what you didn't know was true

Let nothing stop you along the way
I can see you're too beautiful for despair
This hell doesn't last forever
You don't have to stay there
